the story behind the name

“Dancing Daughters” was the nickname given to the fierce and unapologetic women of the 1920's who challenged societal norms. Though the passage of the 19th amendment finally gave women the right to vote, women's rights were still limited. The Dancing Daughters, though, rejected those limitations. They entered the workforce, drove cars, and attended jazz clubs by night.

So why powerful women? Because we know that inside each Dancing Daughters’ drinker is a strong, independent woman who loves her whiskey just as much as the men do.

This spirit honors their fighting spirit and says, "Cheers" to those brave enough, like The Dancing Daughters, to fight for equality for all.

Fearless. Sophisticated. Unapologetically you.

Meet our makers

Our Dancing Daughters Craft Whiskey is the original whiskey created by our founders (and cousins) Kelly and Jessica. Discouraged by the lack of approachable whiskey options in the marketplace, they wanted to create something easily served over ice without any mixers or complicated recipes.

After many attempts, and the perfect blend of (gluten-free!) lemon flavoring, Dancing Daughters was born. Evoking 1920s glamour and just a little speakeasy spirit, it’s smooth and inviting without the burn. Cheers to all the hard-working women out there….this was made with you in mind!

Kelly Nolan

CO-FOUNDER

Kelly brings a love of spirits and over two decades of marketing and media experience to Dancing Daughters. Inspired by the lack of female representation in the alcohol space, she is dedicated to bringing a sense of rebellious fun and inclusivity to the industry. She holds a degree in Communications from UC Santa Barbara and currently lives in San Diego with her husband and three kids.

Jessica STEELBERG

Jessica also brings a love of spirits (and dancing) and is inspired by the dancing daughters of the 20’s and beyond. She is thrilled to bring her artistic talent to the brand. Jessica resides in Newport Beach with her husband and 3 children.
